Can a marketing agency be both creative and strategic?
Doug and Elaine Lunne spent their early careers in marketing, accumulating more than 30 combined years in corporate marketing and communications, as well as with agencies serving them. They worked with some of the world's most impressive brands, including IBM, NCR, Disney, P&G, and Motorola.
Over that period—as both clients and agency partners—Doug and Elaine noticed a common theme. They found they could engage with a creative agency to get wild ideas that were oftentimes irrelevant, or they could partner with a strategic agency to build slides of thoughtful content that often sat unexecuted.
So, 20 years ago, they decided to open their own agency and bring strategy and design together to give clients amazing work that drives business results right out of the gate—and do it in a way that builds authentic, long-lasting relationships, both internally and externally.
Doug and Elaine created LMG (Lunne Marketing Group, Inc.)
In 2004, Doug found space in the Firefly Building in Dayton, Ohio, and rented just three desks—borrowing the vibrant energy of other creative businesses to create a desirable space for both clients and team members to thrive. Over time, LMG’s offices expanded to multiple floors of the Firefly Building where the company's headquarters remain today.
The company will continue to serve clients including Synchrony, Nationwide, CoverMyMeds, OhioHealth, Cardinal Health, Battelle, CareCredit, JobsOhio, Advanced Drainage Systems, and Crown. Douglas Lunne will serve as president of the combined agency.
High-performance marketing
About 15 years in, Doug and Elaine desired continued annual growth, so at the advice of many peer owners, LMG implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), which established a new leadership team, refined the company structure, and focused on business practices that support growth. Since then, the company has nearly doubled in size, aided by the acquisition of treetree in Columbus, Ohio, and the expansion into an office in Charlotte, North Carolina.
LMG now employs 60 professionals in three offices and serves an amazing portfolio of clients who count on the LMG team to know their businesses and their brands.
Working over the years with brands such as Synchrony, Nationwide, Cardinal Health, Advanced Drainage Systems, Crown Equipment Corporation, Dell, PayPal, Microsoft, Honeywell, Lowe's Home Improvement, and Crate and Barrel has given LMG both diversity and focus. As an agency that can still elevate marketing within many industries, we've carved out a unique specialty by focusing on national health and finance brands.
Today, our agency is proud to have relationships with clients that span nearly 20 years, and several employees who've been here for the whole ride. We believe these long-term, mutually beneficial relationships are a testament to the kind of work our team does every day, for every client. And we do it all with no hassle and a lot of heart.
